School Tour to Cuckoo Hill

What a fantastic day we had in Cuckoo Hill. The weather luckily stayed nice and the children all really enjoyed all the activities. They played many team games and challenges, then completed an obstacle course as well as climbing and crawling through a cargo net course. In the afternoon they made their way to the bog walk with some rock climbing along the way to get there. To end the day, they had a ball sludging through the boggy land and finally ending the day with a dip in the pond. Well done to all the boys and girls for participating with such enthusiasm and determination. There were sure to be a few sore and tired bodies after a tiring but fun day!

Active School Week 2025

Third class really enjoyed all the activities during active week and everyone participated fully. They had set dancing and hip hop dance classes, rugby, soccer and a sports day in Monivea pitch which included activities such as tag rugby, jumping, no man's land, three legged race and more.

Engineer Visit to 3rd Class

On Friday, May 9th, we had an engineering workshop with an engineer from Medtronic and a facilitator from The Rediscovery Centre. They gave a talk on engineering as a job which the children found very interesting. The children also got some wonderful insight and interesting information about the work being done in Medtronic and the exciting projects that engineers there get to work on.

The children also got to complete 3 different engineering tasks in small groups. These tasks were: build the tallest tower, build an earthquake resistant building and build a bridge and home for an animal. They had to work as a team, discuss, plan, build, test and make improvements for each task. They had great fun and learned a lot!

Wellness Week, May 2025

For Wellness Week in 3rd class we did a number of enjoyable activities. For Thankful Tuesday, we all wrote individual acrostic poems for the word Gratitude so that we could reflect on all the wonderful things to be thankful for in our lives.

For Thoughtful Thursday, we enjoyed a mindfulness painting art lesson where we used the technique of pointillism (using cotton buds) to create beautiful summer inspired paintings.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025!

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge i rang a trí. Bhí tráth na gceist againn sa rang. Rinneamar a lán ealaín íontach, mar shampla seamróig le cailc. Le aghaidh Lá glas agus an ceolchoirm, rinne na páistí i rang a trí "An Haka Gaelach". Bhí siad ar fheabhas! Rinne na páistí a ndícheall chun a bheith ag caint as gaeilge gach lá agus bhuaigh cúigear páistí sa rang "Gaeilgoeoir an lae". Maith sibh gach duine i rang a trí!

We really enjoyed Seachtain na Gaeilge in third class. We had a quiz in the class. We did lots of wonderful art, for example shamrocks with chalk. For Lá Glas and the ceolchoirm, the children in 3rd class did the "Haka Gaelach". They were brilliant! The children did their best to be speaking some irish every day and 5 children in the class won "Gaeilgeoir an Lae". Well done everyone in third class!
